Poet Risk Management was originally formed as Commodity Marketing Co. Inc, in 1995 and is located in Albert Lea, MN. In 2007 Commodity Marketing changed its name for the ethanol risk management business to Commodity Marketing Co. dba Poet Risk Management. We are one of the largest ethanol risk management traders in the United States. Our company has enjoyed continuous growth since its inception. The company provides commodity futures risk management services, specializing in the ethanol industry. Poet Risk Management’s primary focus is in trading corn, natural gas, and soybean meal as it relates to reducing risk and improving margins for ethanol plants. In 1998 the company became the exclusive risk management provider for the ethanol plants managed by POET of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. POET is one of the largest ethanol producers in the industry. Our customers, the Poet managed ethanol plants, grind in excess of 3% of the nation’s corn crop each year. These ethanol plants are located in Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and South Dakota. Commodity Marketing specializes in implementing positions on the Chicago Board of Trade and the New York Mercantile Exchange to reduce risk, and maximize plant margin opportunity.
